As EVP Content for Blue Ant Media, Vanessa oversees the creation of original content that embraces a multi-platform distribution strategy. With a focus on lifestyle and documentary, the Blue Ant content team creates over 450 hours of original material each year through a combination of in-house, commissioned and international co-productions. Vanessa is also responsible for the acquisition and scheduling strategy across Blue Ant Media’s 10 consumer media brands and various properties.
Vanessa has a history working on well-established brands such as National Geographic Channel, HGTV and History Channel, with years of experience creating, buying and scheduling factual and lifestyle content. Utilizing her solid strategic programming background, she has launched two new channels with Blue Ant Media – Cottage Life and Smithsonian Channel. Cottage Life is Canada’s new multiplatform lifestyle channel that celebrates the essence of weekend living. Smithsonian Channel, a partnership with Smithsonian Networks and the Smithsonian Institution, features program genres that include air and space, science and nature, pop culture and history.
Blue Ant Media is a privately held media company that creates and distributes content internationally in categories that span lifestyle, travel, music, nature and documentary. Through 10 owned and operated consumer brands—including Cottage Life, AUX, Oasis and Smithsonian Channel Canada—Blue Ant publishes original content via television, magazines, mobile and the web. In addition, Blue Ant produces experiential events and specialized consumer shows.
